A note from the founder.

MTRB was started with the hope of connecting MT clinicians to research published outside music therapy journals. This is a 100% free service. We have no ads, no email campaigns – just information.

About two years ago we began selling online continuing education courses. The idea behind the courses is to share information, while raising money for music therapy research. MTRB has already provided support to three music therapy research projects, purchasing forms and other supplies for clinicians to use in research. I have also spent 100s of hours providing free advice to music therapy clinicians on topics related to research.

There are a lot of companies selling CMTE courses online. At MTRB/SMTS we 1) pay our speakers a fair professional rate and 2) put profit toward research (minus minimal operating costs). I take no personal money from the CMTEs and continue to pay for this blog out of my own pocket- the goal isn’t to make money from you all, it is to support my and other’s research. You can read the breakdown of how we spend the money here.

I have long term goals that I hope will support researchers in our field on a much larger scale, but I need your support to get there. Right now there is a push to ask what your worth and “lean in”: though this is important, we also need to take a look at our larger community and put our money and time toward efforts that support the common good. I think that together we can move our profession forward.

Thank you,
Blythe
