Description: Many music therapists work with children who have speech and language needs. This CMTE is designed to give the professional music therapist information including the anatomical, neurological, and developmental aspects of speech and language. You will also learn about current research in music and speech/language and how to apply research in the clinic. Tips for creating and implementing music therapy for common speech and language needs will also be presented.

Total Time: 300 minutes = 6 CMTE Credits
CMTE Credits. Board-certified music therapists earn 6 hours of pre-approved CMTE credit. Participants must submit written assignments (three worksheets listed above). After completing the course, you will simply submit your written work and complete a required course survey. Credits are awarded following submission of all completed items.
Technology Requirements: You must have an internet connection (DSL or higher), an internet browser (firefox, safari, etc…). You will also need a pdf reader.
How this Works: After you sign up, you will receive an email with links, handouts, and passwords (within 24 – 48 hours). You will view presentations while listening to the voice of the presenter. You will be able to correspond via email with the presenter. You will also have worksheets to complete as part of the credit requirement. Videos can be accessed at any time from any computer with an internet connection.
Cancellation and Refund Policy: If you are not satisfied for any reason, you can request a refund (minus paypal fees) in writing. Participants who are not able to view the session due to technology difficulties/errors will receive a full refund. All refunds will be processed within two weeks of a written request.
CMTE Information: Furthering Speech and Language in Children with Disabilities is approved by the Certification Board for Music Therapists (CBMT) for 6 Continuing Music Therapy Education credits. Credits awarded by CBMT are accepted by the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC). Summit Music Therapy Services, #P-114 maintains responsibility for program quality and adherence to CBMT policies and criteria.
Instructor Bio: Blythe LaGasse, Ph.D. is the owner of Summit Music Therapy Services, a private practice that provides evidence-based services to children with disabilities. She holds a doctorate of philosophy in music education/therapy with an emphasis in communication neuroscience. She has over 10 years experience providing music therapy services to children.
